Herbal Education
Wild Gather : Hudson Valley School of Herbal Studies
Wild Gather is co-shaped by destiny siblings, Mandana Boushee and Lauren Giambrone ~ Community Herbalists who have grown Wild Gather as a vessel for their shared love of plants, community, and each other.
For them, Wild Gather is a living altar for their collective daydreams, stories, desires, lived experiences & positive plant obsessions. They see Wild Gather as an invitation and space for the curious and shy plant nerds, the loud, proud, and sparkly plant hoes, the freakers and loners, the botany fetish folk, those that carry arnica and ace bandages wherever they go, the every you and we that craves connection to our plant kin, and the endless portals they inspire.
Sunsetting Seeds :
Many Harvests & One Last Bloom
After an incredible 9 year run, the time has come to sunset our beloved foundations in plant medicine program, Seeds of Herbalism. It's honestly hard to put into words how much this program and our students have meant to us. When we first convened in 2015 to dream up our school, Wild Gather, we carried with us all of the learning, lessons, and educational experiences that helped shape our living-ethos of how we relate and engage with plant medicine.
Seeds of Herbalism allowed us to honor our shared cultures ~ the elders who first taught us the medicinal virtues of cardamom and garlic, and offered a compassionate container for our worldview to grow and evolve. This program has been a potent medicine- a place to gather, heal, laugh, craft remedies and co-create solutions to a broken healthcare system. Since 2016, we've had the incredible privilege of receiving 8 cohorts of brilliant and badass humans, who trusted us to be a step along the way of their herbal education. It's been amazing to see the ways students have woven their herbalism practices into their midwifery care, social work, community organizing, farm plans, massage and acupuncture clinics, and beyond! The ripples of this program will forever be a wildflower garden blooming and self-seeding in our hearts.
After all these years, our organizing and care work has transformed with us. Mandana began working full time with the Northeast Farmers of Color Land Trust back in 2022, and Lauren is going back to school for social work in the Fall. When we started Wild Gather, we were younger in so many ways ~ in our budding friendship, in our collaboration, in our understanding of the world, and in our physical bodies. Over the past 10 years, we've lost parents, had our hearts broken, shuttered our storefronts, dealt with crippling illness and injury… and we also gained family in each other and a deep sense of purpose and place. As much as we grieve saying goodbye to Seeds of Herbalism, we trust that the work and learning we are stepping into will help inform our ever-evolving practices.
Seeds of Herbalism began in 2016, and has been a steady anchor throughout political turmoil, global pandemic, and an ever sharpening turn towards fascism. The tools, recipes, and knowledge packed into the program are more relevant and needed than ever. Before we sunset our baby, we wanted to extend the opportunity to kiss this sweet gift with us once more. Take it for the first time, or again to freshen up your skills. Do it yourself or with a group of friends. We’d love you to forward this note along to anyone you think would be interested in this invitation ~ thank you! More details and links to our sunset sale below.
All our love and gratitude, Mandana & Lauren
